habitat innovation
Apia is an innovative architectural system that uses cutting-edge material research and data-driven design to create habitats for urban pollinators.
Apia is made using Mycelium, the root structure of mushrooms found in natural bee habitats such as tree barks and soil. Mycelium is sustainable, biodegradable and has excellent thermal and acoustic properties.
We use computational design and digital fabrication techniques to tailor Apia to create an adaptable, responsive system that can be continuously improved over time using real-time data feedback.

02
architectural integration
Rather than standalone bee hotels, Apia helps create pollinator friendly architectural feature walls that can be installed in urban landscapes, gardens, roofs, and terraces.
Apia can be used in both new construction and retrofit projects. Our modular design allows easy installation into a wide range of building types and styles.
03
biodiversity impact

Pollinators play a vital role in maintaining healthy ecosystems and agricultural productivity. By supporting these essential species, Apia helps restore crucial ecosystem services in urban environments.
As Apia systems are installed across different locations, they can also facilitate the establishment of pollinator corridors, enabling the movement and migration of these critical creatures. This helps bridge fragmented habitats and promote biodiversity at a larger, urban scale.
